What time is check-in and check out?

Accepted Answer

Check in for youth camps is between 1-2 pm on Mondays. We do not serve lunch on Monday.

Check out time is at 11 a.m. on Saturday. We will communicate any special activities on pick up day via email or text. Lunch is provided for families before you depart from camp with your child. No RSVP is needed for lunch.

No Pets—On drop-off and pick-up day, please leave your pets at home.  Pets will not be allowed on the grounds.

What does a typical day at camp look like?

A Typical Day at Camp
 • Morning Devotion Time
 The day begins with a devotion time, either in chapel or through personal devotions, to help campers start their day focused on God.
 • Cabin Tidying Time
 Campers help tidy their cabins and common areas. This is usually scheduled in the morning, but the exact timing may change at the discretion of the session director.
 • Breakfast
 Campers eat together in the dining hall to get fueled up for the day.
 • Morning Activity Classes
 Campers rotate through their chosen activity classes such as swimming, climbing, crafts, archery, outdoor games, and other programmed activities. *For special interest camps, the activities are not chosen by the campers, but rather scheduled to fit the program goals. 
 • Lunch
 A mid-day meal served in the dining hall.
 • Free Time
 A supervised break to relax, visit the snack shop, or enjoy optional activities around camp.
 • Afternoon Activity Class
 Campers participate in another structured activity period.
 • Supper
 Evening meal in the dining hall.
 • Large Group Activity
 All campers gather for a fun, high-energy group game or themed activity.
 • Evening Chapel
 A time of worship, teaching, and reflection together as a camp community.
 • Cabin Time
 Campers return to their cabins for discussion, prayer, and preparation for bed with their counselors.

Question 3

When will my child choose their activity classes?

Campers will get to sign up for activity classes at 2 different times.  The first is right after orientation on the first day of camp. They will have the opportunity to choose new classes on Wednesday after the afternoon activity class.

*Horseback riding and Paintball activity classes are the exception.  Due to the significant extra cost, these classes are added at the time of registration. Because these classes are limited in capacity and high in demand, we do NOT issue refunds if a child changes their mind about participating once camp has started.

Question 5

Are cell phones or smart devices allowed?

Accepted Answer

We do not allow campers to have cell phones or smart devices while at camp. 
We ask that campers not bring cell phones for two reasons: safety and community building.

With regard to safety, cell phones have access to the internet and the potential dangers to kids on the internet would be nearly impossible to monitor for all our campers.    
The other reason for the restriction on cell phones is the distraction they can cause to the purpose of camp - shifting the focus away from connecting with the Lord and others through nature exploration, Bible lessons, and interpersonal interactions.

So, go ahead and pick up an inexpensive digital camera, an old-fashioned alarm clock, and maybe some envelopes and stamps so your camper can write home about their great week "away"!

Question 6

Can I contact my child while they are at camp?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Hearing from home is a great encouragement to campers.
Here are some suggestions that have traditionally worked well:

• Keep letters positive and encouraging, focusing on the fun your camper is having and the hopes you have for them while they are away.
 • Avoid talking about how much you miss them or what they are missing at home.
 • Short and frequent notes work best—postcards are great.
 • Ask others to write too: grandparents, aunts/uncles, youth leaders, or pastors.
 • You may include small items like stickers or comic strips in mailed letters (no food).

When to Send Notes
 • Many families leave notes or small packages at camp on drop-off day to be distributed throughout the week. This helps ensure campers receive their mail before going home.
 • You may also mail letters the week before your camper’s session so they arrive early in the week.

 Campers may receive emails but cannot respond. Emails are printed and delivered at mail time.
 Details about how to email to your camper will come out with parent communication letters before camp. 
 Include your camper’s first and last name and cabin name in the subject line.
 (Emails must be plain text—no photos or attachments.)

Care Packages
You may also purchase a camp care package with Sky Lodge Christian Camp items. These are prepared by camp and delivered to your camper upon arrival.

Question 7

How do you handle medical needs and medications?

Accepted Answer

On drop-off day, all medications must be turned in to the Camp Health Supervisor. This includes prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and supplements (such as Tylenol, allergy medicine, and multivitamins).

Important details:
 • All medications must be in their original, labeled containers.
 • Please do not send unlabeled medications.
 • The Camp Health Supervisor will dispense all medications according to physician’s instructions.
 • The Camp Health Supervisor has designated office hours and is available 24 hours a day for emergencies.
 • Campers may carry their own inhaler. If you would like to bring a backup inhaler, the Camp Health Supervisor will store it and provide it if needed.
 • Any unused medication will be returned on the last day of camp.
 • Camp keeps basic medications on hand (such as Tylenol, Benadryl, cough syrup, and Tums), so there is no need to send these from home.

Question 8

My child has food allergies. Can they be accomodated?

Accepted Answer

Our kitchen can provide gluten-free and dairy-free meals for an additional fee, which can be selected during registration.
While we cannot guarantee that all other allergens will be absent, our kitchen staff works diligently to prepare food as safely as possible and will alert guests when other common allergens may be present.
Meals at Sky Lodge are served family-style. To help prevent cross-contamination, campers receiving special meals should go directly through the food line to receive their plate rather than having food passed to them at the table.
IMPORTANT – Action Required by Parents:
 Food allergies and dietary needs must be listed during registration. If this information is missing, please log in to your camper’s account to update allergy details and request special diet options as needed.

Question 9

Can my child request to be with a friend?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Camp is even more fun with a friend.

For our classic youth camps (Young Teen Camp and Junior Camp), your child can request up to 2 cabin mates. If you missed making the request when registering, you can log-in to your account and add cabin mate requests under the "optional items" on your camper's profile.

For our special interest camps, cabin mate requests are not included as the sessions are small enough that all campers enrolled will share 1 cabin. (*For co-ed sessions, boys and girls will be housed in separate areas)

Question 10

Will my child need spending money at camp?

Accepted Answer

Campers do not need cash while at camp. However, many families choose to add spending money to their camper’s Store account, which can be used for the Hitching Post, or to cover other optional costs at camp.

The Hitching Post is our camp store and offers snacks, apparel, and small items campers may enjoy during the week.

Some activity classes also have an additional cost, such as:
 • Climbing: $5
 • Crafts: $3

Cash is not permitted for camper use.
 Any cash brought to camp must be turned in on drop-off day and will be added to the camper’s Hitching Post account.
To add funds in advance, log in to your camper’s account and:
1. Select your camper’s profile
2. Click the Financial tab
3. Choose Store from the top menu

Remaining funds at the end of the week may be:
 • Refunded
 • Left as a credit in your camper’s account
 • Donated to camp

Question 11

What is your cancellation and refund policy?

Accepted Answer

All summer youth camp registrations require a $40 non-refundable deposit.

We understand that plans can change. If your camper needs to cancel, any payments beyond the $40 deposit can be refunded, transferred to a different event, or saved as a credit in your camper account.

To cancel, please contact the camp office (608.297.2566) or log in to your account and remove the camper’s registration.
