What is Rake-a-thon?

Rake-a-thon is more than a fundraiser — it's a service opportunity.

Each spring, campers and families come together to prepare Sky Lodge for summer by cleaning up the grounds after winter. Campers who participate raise pledges from sponsors, which are applied toward their camp registration fees.

But the greater purpose of Rake-a-thon goes beyond financial support.

We have found that when campers invest their own effort into camp, they value the experience more deeply. They arrive with a sense of pride and ownership because they helped make camp ready for others.

Rake-a-thon teaches campers that:

  • Work has value

  • Serving others is meaningful

  • Camp is something they can contribute to, not just attend

Many campers walk away thinking, “Sky Lodge is my camp", and it’s one small way we help campers grow in responsibility, gratitude, and love for Sky Lodge and in life.

How do I participate?
1. Let us know you're coming Rake-a-thon on May 2, 2026.

2. Gather pledges - ask friends, relatives, neighbors, teachers, church members, whoever!
Download and print the form here. Make as many copies as you need
3. Come to camp on May 2nd ready for a day of side by side service. Here is what the day will look like:

  • Bring a grown up! (strongly recommended but not required) We need lots of adult volunteers!

4. Help clean our campgrounds! (raking, removing small branches, picking up any litter, etc...)
5. Don't forget to register for camp!
Attending Rake-a-thon does not register you for camp, it just helps you raise the money for camp.  Register by April 1 to receive a free camp t-shirt!  More info about our summer camps can be found here.
Rake-a-thon Fund Policy
Any funds received from sponsorships and Rake-a-thon pledges will go first toward camp fees, then to additional activity fees (if horseback riding or paintball was selected by the camper), then up to $25 in Hitching Post (camp store) money. Any funds raised above these listed expenses will go toward our campership fund. If a camper cancels their camp reservation, all the funds earned will go into the campership fund.
