The Road Ahead Program
The Road Ahead program is here for those who are searching for a place to grow and encounter Christ-specifically aimed towards students who are delving into whether or not camping ministry is a part of their future, or those who are unsure of their next step in life.
The program's mission is to act as a supportive role at a critical point in our interns and gap-year student's lives. Sky Lodge and the staff here desire to help provide opportunities for our students to grow and learn and to embrace the community that Sky Lodge presents.
Our Mission through the Internship and Gap-Year Program here at Sky Lodge is Christ, Community, & Change.
First and foremost, it is our hope and prayer that each student encounter Christ in a new way during their time here in the program. Whether that be through their individual quiet times, group devotions, weekly bible studies, or simply from the nature and beauty that Sky Lodge provides, that gives evidence to the Creator and His handiwork.
We stress the importance of community here at Sky Lodge. Much of our staff live on the facility, and because we have such a small staff, we are a very close-knit family. Each intern or gap-year student is encouraged to reach out and participate in the community that is a vital part of Sky Lodge and how we reflect the body of Christ.
Lastly, change is what we desire for each of the interns and gap-year students. In the application, students are asked to provide 3-4 specific goals they would like to reach while in the program; one spiritual, one physical, one emotional/mental, and one monetary. We have evaluations of growth throughout the semesters and push our students towards stepping outside of their comfort zones into paths of growth and change. The apostle Peter writes on the importance of growth, “You already know these things, dear friends. So be on guard; then you will not be carried away by the errors of these wicked people and lose your own secure footing. Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 3:17-18, NLT)
