General Info

Dear Pastors, Delegates, and Conference Attendees,

 

In an effort to simplify Annual Conference reservations, we are asking that you carefully read this information.  Please use our easy online registration.  If you are planning to stay at a motel off site, please read and follow the procedure for reserving motel rooms in town.  Details regarding the housing, meals, agenda, and schedule are listed below.

 

Registration begins 8:00 am in the Chapel/Recreation building (gym). Conference convenes after breakfast at 9:00am. on Friday morning.  You may check in and register on Thursday evening.

Bishop Linda Adams.png
Bishop Linda Adams

In July 2019, Rev. D. Linda Adams was elected as the first female bishop in the 160-year history of the Free Methodist Church USA. Her territory oversees the northern United States from eastern Montana to West Virginia, as well as the Free Methodist work in all the countries in Latin America that have not yet become General Conferences.

 

Prior to her election, Bishop Adams served the Free Methodist Church as Director of International Child Care Ministries (ICCM) for eleven years. ICCM is a child sponsorship initiative serving approximately 20,000 children in 33 countries around the world. Before taking up leadership of ICCM, Bishop Adams served churches in Michigan, Illinois and New York. Bishop Adams is a graduate of Spring Arbor University and earned her Master of Divinity (1991) and Doctor of Ministry (2000) degrees from Asbury Theological Seminary.

Carl Brannon

W. Carl Brannon was elected as Superintendent of the North Central Conference in April 2020 and began his duties July 1, 2020.  He has a variety of leadership roles and experiences during his years in ministry which includes pastoring in North Central Conference and as a staff pastor at the Greenville Free Methodist Church for the past 13 years.

​

Carl is a strategic thinker with multiple experiences in cross-cultural collaboration and outreach, as well as a passion to grow the kingdom through developing and multiplying leaders.

​

Carl and Kim have been married 3l years.  She is also outreach minded and has been a supportive partner in ministry.  Kim has been a schoolteacher, stay-at-home-mother, substitute teacher, and office administrator at the Greenville University Music Department.  She also runs a Fair-Trade business supporting widows, orphans, and missions.  Kim has a passion for prayer, discipling women, and is active in Celebrate Recovery and supporting Eden's Glory.

They have 4 children; Anna (26), Jeremiah (23), Joshua (21), and Sarah (19).

​

Beginning his role as superintendent during the COVID crisis has been a unique challenge.  He looks forward to serving the Lord and the North Central Conference for the coming conference year with more "normal" circumstances and is praying for greater growth and vision.

Mike & Vickie Reynen

Mike & Vickie Reynen's focus is primarily on the formation of churches in Africa by collaborating with African leaders to develop the various aspects of well-rounded church life.  Church planting and ministerial education are constants, Mike and Vickie both encourage the missionary and the team in empowering national leaders.  Vickie puts a lot of energy into Tumaini Women Kenya, a discipleship-oriented micro-savings and loan ministry, and Thrive (also Kenya), a young Women's ministry discipling and advocating against gender-based violence and sex trafficking.

Doug Newton

Doug Newton is the cofounder and director of the National Prayer Ministry of the Free Methodist Church-USA.  The author of nine books, he served for thirty years as a senior pastor and for fifteen years as editor of Light and Life Magazine.  Doug is a national and international speaker who speaks to thousands of people every year in churches, colleges, prayer conferences, family camps, retreats, writers conferences, leadership and pastoral resourcing events.  He consistently hears, "I've never seen that passage that way before," from enthusiastic people eager to live out new insights he delivers.

Pastor Tracey Pfeiffer

Tracey Pfeiffer started out his ministry career after high school by playing in rock bands.  He did that off and on for 15 years before coming to the encounter in 2010 with his wife, Mandy, and two children, Remy and Halle.  Tracey desires to help people experience the potential love that God has for them.  He wants to see people become who God has called them to be through the community in which He has placed them.  Tracey was appointed lead pastor at the encounter in 2021.

Housing Info

Housing is supplemented up to $23.00 per pastor/delegate, per night. (Pastors and delegates traveling over 100 miles will also receive the 1housing supplement for Thursday night).

  • Dormitory housing at Sky Lodge: (Bunk beds, bring bedding and towels) $23.00 per unit. (Conference covers the $23.00 per night).

  • Couples/Family housing at Sky Lodge: (Bring Towels for motels, bring bedding and towels for cabins). $55.00 - $75.00 per night, per unit. (Conference covers $23.00 of the above cost, per night).

  • Camping Sites: $25.00 and up per site (Conference covers camp site).

  • Area Motels: $80-$100 per night. Please call the motel directly to make your reservation. Pay for your room at the motel and receive a reimbursement from the conference treasurer. (Conference covers $23.00 of motel cost, per night).

Note: Visitors, spouse of delegates, and children are welcome at Annual Conference, but will need to make reservations, and purchase meals and housing. Conference supplement for housing and meals will not be provided for these individuals.

 

Optional Free Time Activities

 Swimming pool (when certified lifeguards are on duty only), minigolf, playground, sand volleyball, canoeing, carpet-ball, hitching post game room, disc golf, play ground.
