Erick Ewaskowitz I've been married to my beautiful wife Rebekah for almost 4 years, and we have an 9-month-old son who is the most awesome guy in the world! I have a Bachelor of Science in Youth Ministries from Greenville College. I am currently pursuing a Masters in Theological Studies from Garrett Evangelical, and I am (soon to be) an ordained Elder in the Free Methodist Church. I have 8 years of youth ministry experience. Four years were spent at Woodburn Congregational Church in Bunker Hill, IL, and 4 yrs. at Wesley Free Methodist Church, Waukegan, IL. My other experiences include being the NCC Youth Ministry Liaison; spending 7 summers on Sky Lodge summer staff (maintenance, assistant staff dean). This will be my 3rd summer directing Young Teen Camp. I choose to invest my time in Young Teen Camp because the junior high years are a critical time in a person's life. It is these years when a person really begins to wrestle with questions such as 'Who am I?' and 'Do I matter?' It is also at this age when most Christians make their decision to follow Christ, and it is also at camp where this often happens. With that said, a camp for jr. highers is of the utmost importance in aiding the jr. higher in their spiritual journey. I believe that in investing in Young Teen Camp, I am embarking upon something as big as the universe. (And I like when jr. high students buy me slush puppies as well) Camping was crucial to my life and my spiritual development. It provided a safe place for me to explore the truths of Christianity and experience authentic Christian community. Through being a camper, working on a camp staff, and helping run different camps and retreats, camping continues to be a significant player in both my spiritual development and that of the students with whom I work. In my free time I enjoy reading, talking about Jesus, drinking coffee, hanging out with teenagers, sports, watching movies with my wife, and figuring out different ways to make my son laugh. |
