Shona Fowler
Junior Camp Activities Director
I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. I am have also
obtained my CPR certification. I have been a Physical Therapist for more
than 20 years. I am fortunate to have worked in a variety of settings with
infants, children, teens and adults. I love helping them learn new skills and
then celebrating their progress. I now work for the school district, helping
students with multiple disabilities, autism, down syndrome, vision/hearing
impairments, etc. It's very exciting to work with children through their
elementary and high school years and to watch them grow in their confidence and
independence.
I also serve as a Co-Director of Children's Ministries and Special Needs class
teacher at our church, Activities Director of Junior Camp, and Family Camp
Children's Ministry Director and teacher.
I love Christian camping! I cannot begin to express what a blessing it is to
help with the children's programming at Sky Lodge camp. I have the privilege to
get to know your children, to help them have positive experiences while they are
at camp, and to watch them grow in their relationship with God during the week
and from one year to the next! It's awesome!
I grew up attending Family Camp and many Free Methodist youth camps. As I grew
up, my camp friendships were a source of encouragement and positive support for
me through difficult times. The speakers, adults, and leaders at camp were a
good Christian example for me. Being at camp, surrounded by God's beautiful
creation, away from the pressures of school, home, friends and family, gives me
the opportunity to slow down, listen, and learn what God wants to teach me.
I have a wonderful husband, Derin, two teenagers, Ben & Jessica, a middle
schooler, Kinsey, a black lab, a Jack Russell-Pomeranian, and an enormous orange
tabby cat! We have plenty of school, church and community activities each week.
In my free time I enjoy reading, attending our kids activities, and watching
movies. I also enjoy learning about new technology- anything from my Palm pilot,
to programs on our laptop (lately I'm addicted to Excel Spreadsheets), to
adapted equipment I can use with my students.
