Our
Sky Lodge Counselors help kids have a great week at Camp. But
that great week doesn't just happen – it is intentional. One of
the main reasons our counselors have been loved by the campers is
the Counselor Training program!
Of course, all prospective counselors fill out a detailed
application and agree to a criminal background check. Then, once
approved, the counselors participate in the Counselor Training
program. There are two components, the online home study track and
the on-site training track. And as you would expect, each day of
camp brings counselor meetings and briefings.
The Counselor Training topics range from proper discipline to rainy
day games, from legal issues to small group dynamics, from specific
age group characteristics to how to tell someone about Jesus. It's
a great time of training and it really sets up both the counselor
and camper to have a great week. Just look at what is covered:

I'm a
Dad (and now a grandpa), so I know the concerns that parents have
for their kids. You trust your child to us and we don't take the
privilege lightly. We work hard to help your child be safe and have
fun – and Counselor Training is a big part of a successful, happy
camp week.
